     Codetta South is the music of musician, songwriter, and producer Brennan White. Originally hailing from the Nashville-Franklin area of Tennessee, White's family moved to Mississippi when he was fourteen. White credits his love and passion for music to Mississippi, ironically, feeling as though if he had stayed in Tennessee, his love for music might have been squelched or discouraged with the competitive nature of the Nashville music scene. White started releasing music under the moniker Codetta South in 2016 with the independent release of his debut album, A Few Regrets. Jackson Free Press' Malcom Marrow had this to say of the album:

"White's first outing as Codetta South is a good example of his expansive skill set as both a musician and a songwriter. It is impressive that one individual created the album in its entirety, completing most of the work in a bedroom in Brandon, and he was able to deliver his artistic vision in such a clear manner." - JFP Morrow, Nov. 18, 2016.

     The album was, in fact, written, recorded, produced and mixed entirely by White himself, excluding three upright bass tracks played by Starkville native, Brent Varner. The album explores themes of love, loss, and how a few regrets can actually be a good thing. A Few Regrets pulled songs written from throughout White's life, the oldest being written at the age of 16, "Five More Seconds," a song written about having to let go of his first serious relationship due to his family's move to Mississippi.
     Not even a year after his first release, White already has preparation for a second album, including a whole new list of songs that are just as personal as the first record, but take a side-step outside of White's own personal experiences to tell the stories of other people.

     White's music is often compared to the styles of James Taylor, Dawes, Jackson Browne, John Mayer, Ben Gibbard, and Ben Folds. White's greatest influence however is the LA-based rock band, Dawes, who he even got to sit in with at a show of theirs in Oxford, MS at the The Lyric.

     Codetta South has had an extensive run in Mississippi, playing shows with great artists such as Ron Etheridge, Andrew Bryant, Jason Lee McKinney Band, Empty Atlas, Alex Fraser, Burt Byler & the Bearded Souls, Briar Lunar, Illiterate Light, and many more. With a promising career in music ahead, Codetta South's music has already gained a steady following for White's genuine lyricism and musicality.
